Staff
Calem O’Grady
Calem O’Grady is an experienced bushcraft and survival instructor, and the owner-manager of The Bushway. With years of practical experience in remote and rugged environments, Calem has built a reputation for delivering grounded, real-world skills that foster resilience, confidence, and respect for the land.
He has worked extensively with remote Indigenous communities, supporting “camping on Country” initiatives alongside Ernie Dingo, helping to facilitate meaningful cultural connection and knowledge-sharing through the outdoors. Calem has also been featured on the TV series Outback Lockdown, showcasing his ability to live off the land using traditional and modern survival techniques.
Alongside his instructional work, Calem is actively involved in ethical hunting and conservation through Wild Origins, where he contributes to conversations around sustainable land use and wildlife management. His work sits at the intersection of education, conservation, and cultural connection to Country.
Ky Furneaux
Ky Furneaux is a survival expert, author, and award-winning stunt performer with a career built on understanding risk, resilience, and real-world decision-making under pressure. With extensive experience in remote environments, she specialises in practical survival skills that go beyond theory - teaching people how to think clearly, adapt quickly, and respond effectively when it matters most.
Her work extends into leadership development, where she uses the principles of survival such as situational awareness, accountability, and adaptability to help individuals and teams perform under uncertainty. Through her books, programs and media work, Ky focuses on building capable, confident people who can assess risk, make strong decisions, and lead themselves and others in challenging environments.
Rachel Coutin
Rach is a Bushcraft Survival instructor and experienced outdoor educator, delivering programs in different pockets of the world. Programs ranging from nature playgroups, summer camps, snow sports lessons, to multi-day hiking expeditions with schools. She is passionate about guiding young people to build confidence, resilience, and a genuine connection to their surrounding environment .
With a natural talent for facilitation, Rach brings energy, knowledge, and play into every session—blending fun facts, games, and real-world skills for all ages. Outside of her work, she enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and off-grid camping and fire cooking.
Kai Powers
Kai is a third-year student at Victoria Uni, studying a Bachelor of Outdoor Leadership. He’s all about the outdoors—whether it’s setting up a tent, heading off on a big hike, or sending it down some mountain bike trails. He loves getting out into nature, pushing himself, and having a good time while he’s at it. Kai is working towards turning that passion into a career where he can get others out there and into the wild too.
